In modern literature there are many diverse genres, each of which is unique and original. But if tragedy or comedy is easy enough to identify, then giving a precise definition of the drama genre is not always possible. So what is a dramatic work and how not to confuse it with something else?

Unlike comedy, the drama shows life experiences and various intricacies of fate. Of course, people's lives, their morals and characters can be quite vivid in comedic works, but drama is not so inherent in ridiculing vices and comic exposing any actions of characters. Here, the hero’s life itself, his thoughts and feelings are put in the first place. The dramatic works are very realistic because they show a person exactly as he is without allegories, grotesque and embellishment. That is why the drama is considered the most complex and, at the same time, one of the richest and most interesting genres of literature. Sometimes the drama very much resembles a tragedy, because sharp corners are exposed here and light is shed on many unpleasant details of the characters' lives. Often the drama becomes so tense and heavy that it is almost impossible to distinguish it from tragedy. But the tragic works are now not so popular and never have a chance for a successful outcome. But the drama can end well, despite all the intricacies of the plot and the difficult fate of the heroes. In our language, the word "drama" has become firmly combined with the tragic plot or life drama of the characters, while historically the meaning of this word does not have such a meaning at all. Any dramatic work, regardless of its content, shows the real life of ordinary people, their sorrows, joys, feelings and bright moments. It is not at all necessary that the reader will have fun in the course of the plot, but the drama should not intimidate or cause tears to burst into tears. It is just a part of life, not any worse or uglier than reality. It is interesting that the very concept of drama, as a genre in works of art, originated in the 18th century. She was very popular among enlightened scholars, politicians and philosophers. Initially, dramatic works were strongly associated with tragedies, tragicomedy, farce and even masked costumes. But centuries later, the drama became part of the artistic reproduction and got its own place separate from other genres. Dramatic works today amaze with their realism and genuineness of the plot. In a few places you can meet a fate not fictitious, but similar to your own, like two drops of water. In dramas, of course, fairy tales are also found, but such dramas are necessary, since they teach us good and faith in the best and bright. Love drama, because it is based on life.
