The Russian Sukhoi SuperJet-100 aircraft, which made a demonstration tour of Asian countries, crashed in Indonesia on May 9, 2012 during the second demonstration flight on that day. The wreckage of the liner was discovered the next morning on the almost sheer slope of the volcano Salak. According to rescuers, their position indicates an attempt by the crew to gain altitude sharply in order to avoid a collision with the mountain.

As you know, the latest Russian Sukhoi SuperJet-100 aircraft disappeared from the radar screens 20 minutes after the start of its second demonstration flight in Indonesia. After the liner crossed the ridge, he fell into a thunderstorm area. The crew requested a reduction from ground services to bypass a powerful rain cloud from below. Permission has been obtained. 8 seconds after this, communication with the aircraft was interrupted. Subsequently, it became clear that for an unknown reason, the liner deviated from the course and hit the slope of Mount Salak.
To date, the main possible cause of the death of the SSJ-100 is considered to be a crew error. The simulation of the emergency also showed the same. However, some experts believe that everything was done correctly. The plane had already circled the mountain and was soon to land. The crew requested a reduction so that when landing it is better to see the strip in bad weather conditions. Indonesian experts also call the decision of Russian pilots to decline quite logical. The reason that the plane suddenly turned around 150 degrees, after which it crashed into a mountain, could be a computer crash.
Another version of the death of the aircraft - electronics could fail as a result of a lightning strike. SSJ-100 is 85% assembled from foreign components, in particular, the navigation system was developed in France. Old Soviet aircraft were designed taking into account the occurrence of such situations. They always installed current collectors, which, apparently, were not available on the SSJ-100.
At the moment, both flight recorders have been found. The disaster is being investigated by the Indonesian side, Russian experts will take part in decoding the black boxes as consultants. To this end, the best specialists were sent to Jakarta, in particular, to investigate the disasters in which Lev Kachinsky and the Lokomotiv team were killed. It is not expected that deciphering the flight recorder records will take much time, since the SSJ-100 was equipped with modern digital information storage devices.
In any case, the transcript of the flight recorders will clarify the situation. In the meantime, Indonesia suspended the purchase of the SSJ-100 until the cause of the disaster was clarified.
