In August 2012, two film festivals are planned in Russia, one of which began in Vyborg on the 12th. The festival is called "Window to Europe", but the viewer is invited to look through this window into the country, and not into Europe - the film forum program includes only the work of domestic filmmakers.

To open the screening program at the 20th anniversary forum, the organizers chose Andrei Proshkin's "Horde", which this summer already brought the creators three prizes at the Moscow International Film Festival. And the closing tape should be the ironic comedy "Love with an Accent" Rezo Gigineishvili. Between these two shows will fit the program, divided into 11 sections and accommodating 76 films.
There are three main competitions at the Vyborg Festival - fiction, animation and documentary films. There are 10 feature films in the program, 21 in animated films, and 32 in documentaries. The organizers tried to pay more attention to novice directors, therefore, for example, Timur Shin's thesis with the laconic name "6" is included in the feature film program. However, not only beginners, but also persons who have already gained fame, will be presented with their first works. So, the theater director and head of the SounDrama studio Vladimir Pankov will show his first work as a film director - the feature film "Doctor" based on the play "Doc.tor" received several theater prizes.
The main competition will feature the painting by Mikhail Brashinsky's “Shopping Tour”, the plot of which is based on the legend that on the day of the summer solstice every real Finn should eat a foreigner. The narration is conducted on behalf of a Russian teenager filming the adventures of a group of domestic tourists on a mobile phone. Another competitive picture - “Fan” - is of interest already by the list of actors employed in it - Vitaly Melnikov managed to attract Oleg Tabakov, Kirill Pirogov, Svetlana Kryuchkov, Alexei Devotchenko to the shootings. And in Maria Sahakyan’s picture "Entropy (House-2012)" people can see Valery Gai Germanika, Ksenia Sobchak, Diana Dell, Danila Polyakova, who, according to the script of the film, gathered in an empty house to make a movie about the end of the world.
The Window to Europe festival ends this year on August 19. According to the tradition of the forum, its winner receives the main prize - the Golden Rook.
