The interest in the events taking place in Ukraine is largely due to the changes that have recently taken place in the economy of this country. Experts note a general decrease in the weight of export and import operations in the structure of trade, which may indicate a growing crisis. In this regard, it is interesting to trace what are the characteristics of exports in Ukraine.
Features of Ukrainian exports
The trade balance of Ukraine cannot be called positive, since the export of goods here is significantly lower than imports. This trend has been noted by experts in the past few years. In 2013, the volume of exports from Ukraine to the countries of the former Soviet Union amounted to more than a third of the volume of all export operations. Europe accounted for more than 25%, about the same amount of goods Ukraine exported to Asia.
A significant part of deliveries to Russia is mechanisms and machines, locomotives, as well as ferrous metals. Ukraine supplies Turkey with vegetable and animal oils and fats, metals and fertilizers, and slag, ash, and electrical installations to Poland. The basis of the commodity structure of the country's exports is ore, metals and metal products. In recent years, the export abroad of chemical industry products and those industries that are directly related to it has slightly decreased. Metallurgical enterprises are leaders in export deliveries.
About 80% of Ukrainian metallurgy products are exported.
The composition of export operations is different for different countries with which Ukraine maintains economic ties. The products of mechanical engineering and other "heavy" industries go mainly to Kazakhstan and Russia. Products from lighter industries are exported to Asia and Europe. At the same time, Italy and Poland remain very important partners for the Ukrainian economy.
