Fortunately, this did not happen with Smith, and he waited for his finest hour in the project "Stargate: the Universe" (2009-2011). I must say that for a short period of work in the cinema, Brian managed to appear in almost three dozen films, and in some he played the main roles.
In addition to the Stargate project, the best series in his filmography are projects: The Eighth Sense (2015-2018), Poirot (1989-2013), Gossip Girl (2007-2012), The Good Wife (2009-2016)
Biography
Brian Jacob Smith was born in Dallas, Texas in 1981. True, he did not stay there very long, because his family often moved from place to place. And often their path lay far from the cultural centers of the country. And none of Brian's loved ones was related to art, but he still gravitated towards the profession of an actor. He was especially attracted to the theater as giving direct contact with the audience.
Therefore, already at school, he began to try on different roles and represent himself on stage or on the set. After receiving secondary education, Smith applied for at Collin County Community College and was accepted into this institution. The training program was quite rich, but the college was located in the small town of Plano, and this left an inevitable provincial imprint on all studies. Demanding for himself and others, the future actor decided to find a more prestigious place and entered Stevens Columbia College. However, a year later he left, because the level of study did not suit him again.
Nevertheless, the young man definitely gained some experience, and therefore soon became a student at the prestigious Juilliard School, which is located in New York. So the future actor was in the thick of the life of a huge metropolis, which gives a lot of opportunities for development, study and work.
At the Juilliard School, Brian had a hard time - the bar was high and demanded from students strictly. However, this is justified by the fact that among the graduates of this school there are many famous actors. This just indicates that the knowledge here gives high-quality. For example, actress Nicole Beharry, a graduate of Juilliard, played the role of Abby Mills in the cult project Sleepy Hollow.
Therefore, when in 2007 Smith received a bachelor of arts diploma, he was happy and pleased that he had gone through all the training and did not drop out of college once again.
Actor's career
And he could do this, because already as a student he began to act in films, and the very first role was the main one. His debut took place thanks to director Tommy Stowell: he selected young people for the film "Hate Crime" (2005), and his choice fell on Brian.
The theme of the picture is prejudice against same-sex marriage and relationships. The drama highlighted the problems of people who faced a rejection of their position in life and a negative attitude towards their sexual orientation.
The hero of Brian is a homosexual Trey McCoy, who lives his life in some kind of ideal worldview. However, tragedy shatters these illusions.
The film “Hate Crime” did not receive wide recognition due to the narrow theme of the picture, but Smith's play was appreciated by other directors and began to invite him to their projects. He worked with various actors and directors in the films Children of War (2009), Red Hook (2009) and others.
These films did not bring him success either, and Brian began to think about the fact that he chose the acting profession by mistake, and therefore he wanted to go to serve in the army. Fortunately, he had excellent sports training and a desire to bring benefits.

However, this time significantly increased the skill of the young actor, because he had to play very diverse roles: student, scientist, hard worker and other characters.
This circumstance helped him get into the project "Stargate: the Universe". He no longer expected any miracle from life - and suddenly such a gift of fate! It was a real take-off in the actor’s career, and Smith himself said in an interview that for him it meant “moving to the big leagues”, in sports terms.
After the actor appeared in this project, he instantly became a celebrity. He professionally played the image of Sergeant Matthew Scott, who became deputy captain of the ship, although in no way wished it. However, he had to assume this responsibility and perform psychologically hard work.

This success inspired the actor, and he no longer thought about leaving the profession. Moreover, the SyFy channel announced him one of the most sought-after actors, and Brian began acting in various TV shows.
However, a "train" from "Stargate" stretched behind him, and now he is already invited to shoot the film "The Red Faction: Origin" (2011). The picture was made on a computer game, which was filmed by director Michael Nanjing. The fantastic thriller was a success with the audience, and Brian received the love and respect of the fans.
In 2012, he was finally able to briefly break away from the filming and realize his childhood dream: to go on stage in front of the audience. Smith played Andrew in the Broadway show hit "Columnist", and this project has existed for more than six months.
After that, there were many roles in the cinema, on television and in the theater, and the actor also has enough plans for the future.
