Childhood and life in Novokuznetsk
The famous actor was born in Tula on November 27, 1963. Father - Lev Petrovich, worked as an actor in a puppet theater, and mother - Natalya Ivanovna, worked there as the main director. The actor’s grandmother is an Italian who lived in Switzerland. From Europe, she moved to Russia, got married and gave birth to a daughter.
Natalya Ivanovna served as a director in one of the theaters in Moscow, but due to a conflict with theatrical figure Sergei Obraztsov, she was forced to move to Tula. In this city, she met her second husband - Leo, from whom she gave birth to a son, Vladimir. By the way, the actor has an older brother Vitaliy.
After the birth of the future actor, the family lived for several more years in Tula, and then moved to Novokuznetsk.
Vladimir studied poorly, but loved two subjects: music and biology. And in high school he became interested in theater, although he decided to go to a biological university. Already in my first year I realized that this is the wrong choice. After that, he went to the Novosibirsk Theater School.
Theatrical career
From school, Vladimir expelled due to a fight. But he does not despair and goes to Moscow, enters the Moscow Art Theater School, but soon he will be transferred to decorators and suspended from school because of a fight with Alexander Lazarev Jr. The next year, he is recovering and falls on the course of Oleg Tabakov.
Vladimir Mashkov’s first performance is Sailor Silence, in which a young actor plays an elderly Jew. In 1989, he became part of the Tabakerki permanent troupe, and in 1990 he became a graduate of the Moscow Art Theater.
Film career
In the movie, Mashkov made his debut in the movie "Armchair". In 1992, he played racing driver Andrzej Polyansky in the film "Alaska, sir!". It was after this role that the audience began to recognize him. And fame brought work in the films "American Daughter" and "Moscow Evenings."
For his role in the film "The Thief" Vladimir Mashkov received several awards, including "Nick". And since 2000, he has been sent to work in Hollywood, but he does not forget about the Russian audience. During this period, three films were released with Mashkov in the title role: Oligarch (2002), Idiot (2003), Piranha Hunt (2006). And in 2008, the actor starred in the TV series "Liquidation". For the role of David Gotzman, Mashkov receives the TEFI award.
In 2010, Vladimir became the winner of the Golden Eagle Award thanks to his work in the film Edge. In 2015, another successful film was released with Mashkov in the lead role - "Grigory R.".
