Biography of Sergei Bodrov
Sergei Bodrov Jr. was born on December 27, 1971 in the capital's family of his namesake - a famous Soviet director and his wife, who worked as an art critic. It is not surprising that from childhood Seryozha was surrounded by a creative atmosphere. And yet, his parents worked a lot, giving the boy not too much attention, but he himself did not complain: the future actor grew very dreamy and lived, as if, in a certain world of his own.
At school, Bodrov Jr. studied not only the exact, but also the humanities. A particular bias was set in French, which the young man mastered perfectly. Having received a secondary education, Sergei, without hesitation, went to VGIK, remembering his father's instructions, although he, in turn, was somewhat puzzled by the overly calm temperament of his son, who was not too suitable for the acting profession. As a result, Bodrov safely graduated from the history department of Moscow State University, graduating with honors. He could have become an ordinary librarian if several important acquaintances had not happened.
Filmography of Sergey Bodrov
Even in his youth, Bodrov Jr. starred in the small role of a bully in his father's picture "Freedom is Paradise", released in 1989. Then, in 1996, he tried himself in the next film of Bodrov Sr., "Prisoner of the Caucasus", where he played with the already famous artist Oleg Menshikov. He was still amazed at such a talented game of an ordinary youth. Critics also warmly accepted her, thanks to which Sergey Bodrov was recognized as one of the best actors that year.
A year later, Bodrov met with a director who is gaining momentum, Alexei Balabanov, who offered him the main role in the film "Brother". Sergei played a young guy Danilo Bagrova, who served in St. Petersburg to his older brother, who turned out to be a professional killer. This role was as if created for Bodrov Jr.: he actually played himself - yesterday’s boy with a simple and dreamy character, but firm convictions. The film is still a cult, and fans do not stop quoting quotes from it.
Other talented directors began to invite talented actors to their paintings. He played in films such as Stringer and East-West, but they passed almost imperceptibly to the audience. Everyone expected Bodrov to return to the role of the national hero Danila Bagrov in the film "Brother-2." The tape came out in 2000 and has become no less popular than the first part. Her shooting took place not only in Russia but also in the USA, and the soundtrack consisted exclusively of hits from the Russian rock scene.
A year after that, Sergey Bodrov Jr. starred in his father’s next two films “Let's do it fast” and “Bear Kiss”. He appeared in the new painting by Alexei Balabanov “War”, the shooting in which played a sad role in his future fate.
Director's career and death
In the early 2000s, Sergei Bodrov, Jr. began writing his own script for the film, which was called "Two Sisters". He personally set the picture, inviting Oksana Akinshina and Ekaterina Gorina to starring actresses, and also starred in a cameo role. In addition, Bodrov wrote the script for the film "Morphine" based on the works of Bulgakov. This tape was subsequently removed by Alexei Balabanov.
It was Balabanov who prompted Sergei the place for the filming of his next film “The Messenger” - the mountains of the North Caucasus, where Bodrov had already been during the production of the film “War”. In the summer of 2002, a film crew with a young director left for the Karmadon Gorge and began work. Suddenly, the gorge was covered by a glacier that descended from Mount Jimara. For many months, the entire crew was reported missing, and rescue operations were carried out at the site of the tragedy, but all to no avail. In 2004, Sergei Bodrov Jr. was officially declared dead.
