Askold Zapashny is a junior representative of the circus dynasty Zapashny. He is the artistic director of the big Moscow circus on Vernadsky Avenue, producer, director, People’s and Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
Many spectators come to see the grandiose performances of the legendary trainers "Camelot", "Sadko", "System", "Legend" and "K.U.K.L.A." The public leaves the circus with complete admiration.
Childhood and youth
Askold Walterovich Zapashny was born in Kharkov in 1977, on September 27. His brother Edgard is a year older. In the circus, the artist acts as a juggler, acrobat, tightrope walker, Voltigeur and trainer.
The great-grandfather of the famous artist Karl Thompson began working in the circus. The clown eccentric performed under the pseudonym Milton. Then Zapashny began specializing in the training of predators.
Askold's parents, Tatyana and Walter, were constantly on tour. The brothers attended one class. Father dreamed that both would continue the dynasty. The boys changed many schools, as the family constantly traveled around the cities.
The father strictly followed the progress of his sons and did not give any concessions to both. Askold began to speak from an early age. At ten years old, he made his debut in the room, and the official premiere of the artist was at eleven.
Riga spectators warmly received the family room "Time Machine". In 1991, after completing school, the family received a contract for performances in China. The host circus was built in Safari Park near the city of Shenzhen.
During these tours, the younger Zapashny acquired many professions. He learned to walk the rope, juggle while riding a horse, became an excellent acrobat, a vault, and began training large predators and monkeys.
Confession
In 1997, at the First All-Russian Circus Art Competition in Yaroslavl, the Zapashny brothers received the Golden Three, the first prize for their work. Field completion of the contract, the family returned to the capital. The attraction "Among the Predators" the father passed to his sons at the celebration of the anniversary in 1998.
They went on tour with him in many countries. Both adopted the subtleties of the training from his father and developed skills. For the author’s trick, the longest jump on the lion’s back, Askold got into the Guinness Book of Records.
The first spectacular number was invented by the artist's father. He and his brother brought his idea to perfection. The jump, which no one in the world can repeat, has become Zapashny's hallmark.
The second entry in the Book of Records took place after the highest column of three people on a running pair of horses. In 1999, Zapashny became an Honored Artist of Russia, in 2012 he was awarded the title of People’s.
He then began to lead the Great Metropolitan Circus. He does not interrupt his artistic career. The artist graduated from GITIS and became a co-organizer of the Circus of the Zapashny Brothers, along with Edgard.
Askold wrote the scripts and staged such performances as "Camelot", "Colosseum", "Legend". The audience is delighted with them.
Family matters
The younger Zapashny remained a bachelor for a long time. However, he found a chosen one. Now the artist has two charming daughters, Eva and Elsa.
Helen Askold met their mother on a tour in Minsk. As a child, she left for Israel with her parents. The artist immediately liked the girl who came to the circus.
Charming and erudite Helen Reichlin attracted Zapashny and the fact that she knew nothing about him. This was a novelty for a popular artist. He did not see interest in his person.
Meetings lasted for three years. The girl received higher education, she could not quit her studies. The trainer was not able to cancel the tour. The unusual occupation of a daughter's fan scarecrow and Helen's parents. However, the marriage took place, and the children strengthened it. In 2016, both girls first performed in the circus with their father and uncle.
In 2010, artists returning to Bryansk for a rehearsal of the new program were in a car accident. Fortunately, both brothers were not hurt. In 2013 Askold Zapashny became the director of "IDOL", the World Circus Art Festival. The event is held in Moscow. The artist carried a torch on the Olympic relay. In 2016, Askold appeared among the creators of the television series about Margarita Nazarova. He even starred in his short episode.
