In 1840, Nicholas I, in the course of his administrative reform, transferred the Lichkanovsky family to one-man palaces (paramilitary landowners who lived on the borders of the state).
Almost a century later, in 1930, Vasily Gavrilovich Lichkanovsky, the grandfather of the future musician, was sentenced by the Judicial Troika at the board of the GPU of the Ukrainian SSR to five years in a concentration camp. But he managed to escape from police surveillance with his wife Evdokia and daughters Elena and Lyudmila. The family left the village of Pomoshna and moved to Sakhalin.
