Anastasia Kuzmina is known to biathlon lovers both in Russia and far beyond the borders of her homeland. She showed excellent results as part of the Russian national team. The future three-time Olympic champion was born in Tyumen on August 28, 1984. The maiden name of Anastasia is Shipulina. The girl became the first child in the family of masters of sports in biathlon and cross-country skiing. Three years later, twins were born here - Anton and Anya. The younger brother of Anastasia later became a world famous biathlete, the champion of the Olympic Games in Sochi.
As a child, Nastya tried many sports. Later, it was very useful to her when training in biathlon. Anastasia stood on the skis under the guidance of her parents. In addition, the girl was engaged in figure skating and karate. But in the end, Nastya chose ski biathlon.
Anastasia has a higher education - she graduated from the Tyumen Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Sports career of Anastasia Kuzmina
Anastasia received her first awards for participating in skiing in her childhood. Later she was included in the national team of the area. At the age of 15 she picked up a rifle and already at the junior level she collected a significant number of medals of various denominations.
Anastasia got into the Russian national team in 2005. For two years she has represented Russia at the highest level competitions.
In 2008, the circumstances of his personal life forced Anastasia to play for the Slovak national team. It was with the beginning of a new stage in Kuzmina’s career that she began to show the highest results in biathlon.
The main sporting achievement of Anastasia, experts consider the Olympic gold medals. Her first victory in these competitions took place in 2010 in Vancouver: the girl won the sprint race. Four years later, the athlete repeated her success in Sochi.
Between the two Olympic Games, Kuzmina received a serious hand injury. She even had to miss the stages of the World Cup, which are important for any biathlete. After the Sochi Olympics, family circumstances took Anastasia out of the world of sports for two years. In 2016, she returned to the Premier League and at the first official start she became one of the top six athletes.
In January 2019, Anastasia Kuzmina announced at a press conference that at the end of the competitions of this World Cup she plans to part with big sports. The end of the season, Nastya promised to hold at the highest level.
