In the "dashing 90s", many talented athletes lost their righteous path and went to seek easy happiness among the "knife and ax workers." Sergey Ananyevsky, who played a key role in the establishment of powerlifting in Russia, was no exception. The life of a promising champion and a reputable bandit ended ingloriously: he died during a showdown on the streets of a big city, taking in almost a whole assault rifle.
