And the main male character was played by Sunny Deol, who later also became a very popular actor in India (and for him, by the way, this was also a debut in the cinema).
The film “The Power of Love” tells a fairly simple story: the eccentric and very capricious rich girl Roma (Amrita plays it precisely) falls in love with an honest and kind, but poor guy named Sunny. The girl’s father is strongly opposed to this relationship, but the romance between young people still continues to develop. Moreover, gradually this novel changes the character of Roma for the better.
This film was shown in the cinemas of the USSR in the eighties, and many Soviet citizens liked it. However, in India itself, the picture was also a huge success. Many viewers drew attention to the brilliant play of debut actors Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh, as well as the magnificent chemistry that occurs between them in the frame.
After a successful debut, Amrita began to receive quite a lot of offers from various directors. In 1984, she starred in the movie "The Cruel World, in 1985 - in the films" Sunny ", " Sahib "and in the Indian action movie" Raja ", which gathered the biggest box office in her country that year. This role really turned out to be very bright, for which Amrita Singh received the Indian film award Filmfare in the nomination "Best Supporting Actress". After that, her first child was born, and she decided to interrupt her career in cinema.
It should be noted that in general for ten years, from 1983 to 1993, she starred in more than forty films.
