A few years ago, Alexander Us pleased his lovers of biathlon with his success. Spectators are accustomed to his famous “left-handed” stance when standing. Not showing consistently high results in individual races, Us managed to prove himself an experienced relay fighter and even once became the world champion in this kind of sports program.
Alexander Us: facts from the biography
The future talented Norwegian biathlete was born in the city of Fauske on January 21, 1980. The athlete’s childhood passed in a picturesque place, which is part of the historical district of Salten. The city is located on the north coast of Skierstadfjord.
For about three years, Us studied at the ski department of the gymnasium. At some point, winter biathlon attracted his attention. Once he tried himself in shooting, renting someone else's rifle. Target shooting pleased him. Subsequently, the athlete acquired his own weapons. As a result, Alexander was seriously interested in biathlon, making this sport his profession.
Career of Alexander Usa
Us made his debut in the national team in 2000, taking part in the World Junior Championships in Hochfilzen (Austria). Two years later, Alexander appeared at the European Cup, where he competed for two seasons. Us did not miss the stars from the sky, but continued to train hard, improving the technique of shooting and skiing.
At the very end of the 2003/2004 season, Us gained the right to measure strength with the best shooting skiers of the planet at the World Cup. A year later he was in the top ten athletes. He finished ninth in the prestigious pursuit.
Us first climbed the biathlon podium in the 2006/2007 season - he became second in the sprint. In subsequent years, Alexander repeated this success twice. He managed to take two “silver”: in the individual and sprint races.
The best achievement of the Norwegian biathlete was the medal of the highest standard in the relay race, which Us in collaboration with teammates won in 2011.
At the end of the 2015/2016 season, Alexander Us announced that he was completing a career in sports.
In the world biathlon classification, Us only once rose to 13th place, gaining 580 points. This happened in the 2008/2009 season.
