A graduate of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, a specialist in the physics of fast molecular processes, and now People's Artist of Russia Alexander Filippenko, could have made a mistake in choosing a profession if it weren’t for the KVN institute team. It was his student hobby that helped him understand that his profession should be connected with theatrical art.

Biography
Alexander Georgievich was born in 1944 in Moscow. Then the war was still going on, although everyone already understood that fascism would be defeated. And the country made plans for the future. Therefore, Alexander’s parents as scientists were sent to Kazakhstan, to the mining and metallurgical plant.
The childhood of the future actor passed in a beautiful city - Alma-Ata, the capital of Kazakhstan. He was an excellent student in school, graduated with a gold medal. In his free time, he went to a theater studio at the House of Pioneers and was so carried away by this matter that he wanted to enter a theater university. However, parents insisted on a more “earthly” choice, and Sasha went to study at MIPT as an engineer.
In Moscow, he found himself an outlet in the KVN team, and then at the Moscow State University Theater Studio. He helped to put on short sketches, played various roles himself and, with his energy and enthusiasm, inspired friends to work. Filippenko's talent was so obvious for the actor and director that it was not clear to those around him what he was doing at a technical university.
However, as a young specialist, he distributed himself at the Institute of Biochemistry and began working as an engineer. And then what happened was to happen, no matter how strange it may seem: he was accepted into the collective of the Drama and Comedy Theater. In the same year he made his film debut - it was the film "I Am His Bride" (1969).
What was left to do? Torn between two professions or still choose one thing? Filippenko decided to get an education as an actor, and entered the "Pike." After graduation, the future artist joined the Vakhtangov Theater, to which he gave 20 wonderful and creative years.
Around the same time, Alexander began working on television: he portrayed the clown Sanya in the children's program "ABVGDeyka".
After leaving the Vakhtangov Theater, Filippenko became the head of the Mono Duet Trio theater. Here, viewers can see concerts, various literary and musical shows, and. of course, solo performances. In this theater, Filippenko managed to realize her talent as a entertainer.
Movie career
The portfolio of the People’s Artist Filippenko contains more than a hundred of the most different roles played in films and series. As critics say, this actor has mostly “characteristic” roles - he is so expressive and penetrating in creating images and working in front of the camera.
He began to play a movie in parallel with his work in the theater. His most significant roles at that time were the roles in the film "Walking through the agony" (1977) and the series "Born by the Revolution" (1974-1977). And in 1975, the main role came to the artist: he played Arslan Gubaidulin in the film "Treasure".
Work in the theater was interspersed with filming in films, and already in the portfolio of the actor appeared the tape "On the day of the holiday", "At the bottom" and "Morning bypass".
Moreover, both the directors and colleagues on the workshop were surprised at Filippenko’s ability to transform into completely different characters. Such psychological plasticity is characteristic only of truly professional actors.
For example, in the film "Who will pay for luck", the actor played a counterintelligence, in the drama "Throw" created the image of a border guard. These would seem to be single-genre roles.
However, a year later he plays Koshchei the Immortal in the children's film “There, on Unknown Paths”
."and appears in the role of Death in the film" The Star and Death of Joaquin Murieta. "He also has similar roles.

And after these roles, serious work is going on again: roles in the military dramas “Battle for Moscow”, “I did my best” and a particularly difficult role in the film “Torpedo bombers”.
There are special roles in the Filippenko filmography, which it was very responsible to play, because before him these images were created by great actors. And it was necessary to bring something different to each image, and not fall into the mud with your face, and correspond to those historical figures whom you depict. We are talking about the role of Fyodor Dostoevsky in the film "Sophia Kovalevskaya", the role of the king of England in the "Black Arrow" and the role of Emperor Paul I in the film "Steps of the Emperor".
Also in the biography of Alexander Georgievich there is an interesting episode: he twice starred in the film "The Master and Margarita." Only in 1994 he had the chance to play Koroviev, and in 2005 - Azazello. And the first picture was shown much later than the second - only in 2011.

The beginning of the new century brought Filippenko a lot of work in the series, which became popular in Russia. Here he played both comedic and serious roles - for example, in the TV series Brezhnev or in the TV series Aziris Nuna.
One of the last works of the actor in the cinema is the series "Happy End" and "Peter the First. Testament." Since then, Alexander Grigoryevich has given all his time to the theater.
