Biography Politician
Alexander Beglov was born in the capital of the Azerbaijan SSR, the city of Baku, on May 19, 1956. The boy’s father was a participant in three wars, his mother was engaged in children and home. According to some sources, the Beglov family had 8 children, Alexander is the youngest of them.
School science was not easy for the boy, and Alexander failed the exams in the "sailor". The young man had no choice but to continue his education in an ordinary Leningrad vocational school, and after him in the Industrial Pedagogical College. Upon completion, he was called up for military service in the ranks of the SA.
In 1978, Alexander Beglov was demobilized from the SA. The guy decided to continue his education, he entered LISI (now SPbGASU) - Leningrad Civil Engineering Institute. There he mastered the specialty "specialist in industrial and civil engineering." At the same time, the young man consolidated theoretical knowledge in practice - he worked as a high-rise installer at construction sites in his native city of Leningrad.
Beglov took up a serious career development in 1985, two years after receiving a LISI diploma, as head of an entire construction department at the Leningrad Executive Committee. Alexander Dmitrievich was characterized by his leadership as a promising and active employee, and soon after starting work in the executive committee, he was expected to be promoted "in service" - transfer to the regional executive committee, to the post of head of the socio-economic sector.
Career of Alexander Beglov
In public office in the apparatus of Leningrad and the Leningrad Region, he worked until 1991. With the beginning of perestroika, personnel shifts also came; many of Beglov’s colleagues “left” for business. Alexander Dmitrievich decided to try his hand in this field.
Beglov’s first business idea is the Melazel company, which he created with his colleagues and friends. Alexander Dmitrievich was not only its co-owner, but also held the post of chief engineer. The company was engaged in construction, was a Russian-German enterprise.
In parallel with his work at Melazel, Beglov wrote a dissertation on the topic of the stability of reinforced concrete elements in construction. After defending his scientific work, Alexander Dmitrievich headed the Department of Theoretical Mechanics at his native university - at LISI, which at that time had already become SPbGASU. For two years, from 1997 to 1999, he taught, and then decided to pursue a political career.
The press tried to find Beglov’s connection with the criminal world during that period of his career when he was engaged in business, but the journalists never found any “strings”. The only thing that managed to learn about the politics and businessman Beglov - he was familiar with the current president of the Russian Federation back in the period when he headed one of the sectors of the Leningrad Oblast Executive Committee.
Politics
The political career of the future governor of St. Petersburg began in 1999, when he took over as head of the Kurortny district of his native city. Only three years later, in 2002, he became vice-governor, and a year later, first deputy plenipotentiary of the North-Western District. In the same period of development of his political career, Beglov joined the United Russia party. In addition, he managed to show his abilities as the mayor - Alexander Dmitrievich was the governor's acting director for three months, until Matvienko came to this post.

In October 2018, after the resignation of the current governor of St. Petersburg, Poltavchenko Georgy, Alexander Dmitrievich Beglov was again appointed by the acting acting president. A few months later he was included in the Security Council of the Russian Federation, which did not prevent him from thoroughly preparing for the election of the governor of St. Petersburg.
Beglov announced his intention to become a self-nominee and run for governor of his hometown at the end of May 2019. He left the United Russia party, presented one of the most extensive development programs for St. Petersburg, and voters believed him. Throughout the company, he had the highest rating - his level did not fall below 55%. He won the election with 64% in his favor. Beglov’s governorship expires in 2024.
