The first “Avengers”, released in 2012, became an event in the world of blockbusters and gathered a good box office. Both critics and viewers noted not only the high-class graphics and acting of the star caste, but also the strong script of Joss Whedon.

Instruction manual
1
Clear statement of the problem at the very beginning
This is the first rule of summer blockbusters. As soon as a problem appears, you can enter characters who will solve it.
In The Avengers, Tesseract opens a spatial portal and Loki appears.
And everyone understands - now we have serious problems.
2
Well-grounded first action scene
The task of the scriptwriter is to come up with an iron reason for a large-scale scene with explosions. Ideally, a ticking bomb. A special case - in the first Avengers - after the arrival of Loki, the Tesseract becomes unstable, the building begins to explode. Heroes have only two minutes to get out.
3
A pause after the first action scene - so that the viewer can take a breath and the scriptwriter can set a goal
Immediately after the explosions and the chase, Nick Fury says over the walkie-talkie: “The tesseract has been captured. I want everyone to do it.”
The goal is set. Now we know what we will do - to assemble a team to solve the problem.
This is an important point. Sometimes authors forget about it, because they themselves are well acquainted with the story, for them everything is clear and obvious, but the viewer must be brought up to date.
4
Catch the villain
We expected the avengers to chase Loki for two hours, but the scriptwriter introduced a plot twist - he allowed the heroes to capture the villain in the first act, which added to the plot fresh dynamics.
Conclusion: so that the viewer does not get bored, make unexpected choices in actions and events when it is possible.
5
Lay potential conflict in the characters of the characters …
A good example is Tony Stark and Captain America. The first does only what he wants, the second lives on the concepts of duty and obeys orders. Put two so different characters in one room - and they will definitely find something to argue about:
- Iron Man is only a costume. And to take off - who are you without him?
- The genius. Billionaire. Playboy. Philanthropist.
6
… and make them interact as much as possible
The scriptwriter sends over and over to solve the problems of those who do not get along with each other - Stark and the Captain. Whedon makes them work together, creating more interesting situations and scenes.
7
When it's bad - make it worse
In a grand final battle on the streets of the city, the avengers battle aliens penetrating the portal. First, smaller guys appear. Heroes fight, gain the upper hand - and suddenly a huge worm appears. When he is defeated, dozens of people like him appear, forcing the audience to cringe in their seats and seriously worry about the heroes.
8
Even summer blockbusters need character arches
The scriptwriter created arches for at least two characters. So, Tony Stark must learn to work in a group, and Bruce Banner should take his dark side instead of avoiding it, as he did before.
And when they do this, the Avengers win.
